What We Believe

Someone on Lucianne.com suggested that someone write a statement of principles that Republican members of Congress could subscribe to. I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm just as qualified as anyone in Congress and probably more qualified than RINOs like Lindsey Graham and Olympia Snow. So, here is what we Republicans believe. Let me know what you think.

What We Believe

We believe the struggle against Islamic fascism is a struggle of good versus evil. Victory in the war against terrorism is just as important as the Allied victory in World War II or the Cold War. We believe the United States and its allies have the right to engage the enemy any time, any place, anywhere and use all of our military, diplomatic, and economic resources at our disposal.

We believe in the fundamental rights of all people everywhere to be free from tyranny, dictatorship and oppression. We believe the United States has a responsibility to promote freedom all over the globe.

We believe in the fundamental right to live and we recognize the humanity of the unborn child. We believe that the right to life begins at conception and ends at natural death.

We believe that the United States has a right to secure its borders. We welcome legal immigrants who wish to bring their talents and energies to this country and assimilate into our culture and learn the English language. We believe that those who come here illegally should be deported.

We believe that judges should interpret the law, not legislate from the bench. We believe the Founding Fathers meant what they said and said what they meant. We believe that nothing in the Constitution supports the liberal agenda of abortion, homosexual marriage, or the removal of faith expressions from the public sphere.

We believe that governments govern best when they govern least. We believe the federal government should leave most decisions to the people and their local elected officials, respectively. We believe the federal government should intervene only when the people and local government are unable to meet basic human needs.

We believe our tax system is cumbersome and unjust. We believe in a simplified, flat tax that allows people to keep more of their own money and promotes savings and investment.

We believe people should own their own retirement plans that allows them to decide how their money will be invested. We believe that people should be able to pass on their retirement savings to their family.

We believe parents should have the tools they need to decide what is best for their children. We believe parents have the fundamental right to decide where their children attend school. We believe that education issues are best decided by parents and local officials, respectively. We believe there is no role for the federal government in education. We believe that parents and only parents have the right to make medical decisions on behalf of their children.

We believe in equality of opportunity for all people. There is no black race, no white race, no Asian race, no Hispanic race. There is only the human race. We believe that no government agency has any right to deny rights or privileges based on a person's skin color, religion, political beliefs, or national origin.

We believe that the Second Amendment recognizes the rights of law-abiding citizens to possess firearms for sporting or self-defense purposes. We believe that criminals who use firearms should receive lengthy prison sentences. We believe the federal government can and should support state and local efforts to expand prisons for the purposes of crime deterrence and the promotion of public safety. We also support state and local efforts to imprison former felons who have been found possessing firearms illegally.

We believe it is in the national security interests of the United States to free itself from its dependence on Middle Eastern oil. To that end, we believe that drilling and refinery capacity should be expanded in the United States, specifically in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Coast. We believe the federal government can and should support research into alternative energy sources such a hydrogen fuel cells, ethanol, and other bio fuels.
